Corporate Planning & Strategy Job Description – GM/Head


In this position, you will be a team lead in Corporate Planning and be responsible for implementing and supervising activities across several areas as indicated below.

Responsibilities: Corporate Planning and position specific responsibilities include –

1. Strategy Development and Execution Monitoring a. Drive business and operational strategy development across all groups in the enterprise focusing on strategic direction b. Guide the team in identifying megatrends, best practices, benchmarks to present in appropriate forums as input to strategy c. Collaborative working with internal stakeholders in understanding customer, market, competitor analysis, cost analysis, internal capability analysis for input to strategy d. Conduct cross-functional workshops for senior management in areas of strategy formulation, deployment, alignment and implementation planning e. Facilitate in continuous improvement of senior management-level dashboards 2. Strategic Program Management and Innovation a. Identify & discuss with internal stakeholders on strategic initiative areas b. Program manage the business unit initiatives cutting across functions to achieve objectives c. Guide the team in preparing progress reports and other documents to present in appropriate forums for programs managed d. Conduct senior management committee meetings for speedy issue resolution 3. Internal Management Consulting a. Lead the team to assess, analyze and provide recommendations for business-specific opportunities / issues across the TAFE group 4. Enterprise-Wide Process Reengineering a. Identify & discuss with internal stakeholders the processes that need to be reengineered with the objective of increase speed, ease and reducing NVA b. Guide the teams to lead task forces to achieve objectives through process improvement & structure realignment 5. Mergers, Acquisitions and Alliances (MAA) a. Identify the opportunities in-line with the guidance for mergers, acquisitions and alliances b. Finalize frameworks for evaluation, business cases, funding, proposals etc. c. Architect & implement alliances with external organizations for achieving business goals 6. People Development a. Manage and guide team members to ensure adherence to quality & time plan b. Responsible for capability development of the team c. Identify potential and groom leaders 7. Additional Areas a. Ensure management & security of data as per TAFE’s policy b. Support VP – Corporate planning in critical / key areas as required c. Undertake any other duties relevant to the role as determined from time to time

Location: Chennai, TAFE office in Nungambakkam

Experience & Educational Specifications:

1. Overall around 20 years experience in manufacturing industry or management consulting firms 2. Functional areas experience in any one or more of the following areas: Sales & Marketing, Manufacturing, Operations, Supply Chain, R&D, Strategy, Corporate Planning 3. PGDM / MBA preferably from IIMs or other Tier 1 College 4. Undergraduate engineer preferably mechanical from Tier 1 Colleges

Balances the business interests of stakeholders and the organization and manages any conflicts that may arise f. Assesses impact of change in the long term and enables others to adapt positively & creates an environment that promotes change

3. Collaborative working a. Gathers support for implementation of new ideas and leads their implementation b. Encourages empathy for stakeholders, predicts future needs and helps translate to new ways doing business c. Recognizes the best in different cultures and draws upon differences to enhance business performance
